On the market we findchard(also colored beets) and leaf beets, the principle for cleaning is the same.
How to clean beets? Just cut the part that holds the bundle together and remove the ruining outer leaves.
You will then have to rinse everything off with plenty of fresh water.
On the web, there are those who recommend removing the beet leaves one by one. In reality this is not necessary at all because once the final part of the head is cut, the leaves will detach automatically.
Forclean the chardyou will then have to take a next step. Since the ribs are very fleshy, to reduce cooking times and make them uniform with the more tender leaves, I recommend cutting the ribs in the long part. Bring the water and salt to a boil and cook the chard in boiling water for 5 minutes. You can also lengthen or even shorten cooking times according to your taste preferences. How to cook beets in the oven
For thechard recipebaked, I advise you to strictly use chard.
The chard, in fact, like cauliflower or fennel, can be cooked in the oven au gratin!
Here are the ingredients for 4 people:
- 1 kg of chard or chard
- 300 gr of sweet cheese of your choice (Asiago, Belpaese ...)
- 180 gr of breadcrumbs
- 80 gr of grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt to taste.
- Extra virgin olive oil q.s.
Prepare the boiled chard, eliminate all excess water and coarsely chop it. Considering baking in the oven, keep it low with the cooking times in the pot.
In a bowl, pour the breadcrumbs and Parmesan.
Grease the bottom of a baking dish with extra virgin olive oil and cover it with a thin layer of breadcrumbs and Parmesan.
Arrange a first layer of chard and cover with the cheese cut into chunks. You can make several alternating layers or concentrate the cheese in the center, as you like. Continue until the last layer is covered with the remaining beets.
Cover the mixture with a generous mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° for about 15 minutes: you will need to monitor cooking to prevent the breadcrumbs from burning, it must appear blond and dry!
Baked beets are best enjoyed hot or just warm.
